Can you think of a time when a dog didn’t come up to you and sniff to get acquainted? Canines have a magical sense of smell and feel most comfortable around you and other dogs after they have determined your scent.

As humans, our sense of smell is quite inferior when compared to that of a dog. This is largely due to the fact that their olfactory bulb (the smell center) is nearly three times as large as ours! Dogs also possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, compared to about six million in humans!

Has your dog ever found something that you lost weeks ago? You can thank their sniffers for that!

Beagles, just like Puppa-na-wuppana, have been well known for their magical noses and sense of smell for years. This is why we take them hunting with us, use them to find loved ones that may be missing, and even use them to sniff out illegal food or substances brought into our country.

So, next time you’re around a dog, don’t be afraid to let them take some time and get to know you with their magical nose!
